For One Month WOAMTEC Apprenticeship Provides Women Seeking Employment Networking Opportunity
WOAMTEC announced its newest membership level, the WOAMTEC Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship program is a one month WOAMTEC membership that offers women seeking employment and recent college graduates the opportunity to network with more than 400 professional women and women-owned businesses located throughout Central Florida, Tampa and Atlanta, Georgia.
“WOAMTEC’s goal is for our professional women to mentor apprentice members as they enter the workforce either for the first time or a second time in their life,” said WOAMTEC President and Founder, Kathleen Hawkins, who also noted that the WOAMTEC Apprenticeship is a way for WOAMTEC and its members to build the economy and help those in need within our community.
To qualify for the WOAMTEC Apprenticeship, the prospect must currently be displaced from their career field and seeking employment. WOAMTEC Apprenticeship is for a one month calendar cycle beginning the first day of the month and ending the last day of the month. WOAMTEC Apprenticeship costs $65 and is available only once per person during a five year time span.

Introducing Nena West, Tampa’s First WOAMTEC Chapter Director
Wednesday, 08 July 2009 - 11:30 AM - 01:00 PM
Tampa, FL - Chapter Meeting
Chapter Director - Nena West
The Capital Grille
2223 North West Shore Boulevard
Tampa, FL 33607
“I want to empower women,” West said on why WOAMTEC is her networking organization of choice. Nena’s successful, thirty-year career in the insurance industry spans many insurance lines and positions. She currently specializes in professional liability insurance. “I have found a niche in professional liability that I truly love,” she said. Nena, now an agent, is the current President of the Tampa Association of Insurance Professionals. She holds numerous professional designations in the insurance industry including Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW), Professional in Insurance Account Management (PIAM) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR).On empowering women, Nena shared her personal perspective based on professional experience, “Women have taken over the insurance industry, but still, there are not a lot of women in power in the larger companies. Women need a networking family to belong to; one they can use to better themselves—while getting the best products and services at the best prices.” Nena plans to encourage women to network outside of their professions.
As a wife, mother and grandmother she appreciates WOAMTEC’s values of faith and family before career. Nena is the founder of T.I.K.E (Toddler Information Kept for Emergencies) a program that she founded in Florida and her philanthropic reach extends to various other charitable organizations including her local humane society, Junior Women’s League and the Good Samaritan Mission.
Successful networking led Nena to her current role as Tampa’s first WOAMTEC chapter director. She met WOAMTEC President and Founder, Kathleen Hawkins at a Heart Gallery Conference. The Heart Gallery is WOAMTEC’s charity of choice. There, the two exchanged business cards following Hawkins conference presentation. Nena plans to build a WOAMTEC chapter based on her and Hawkins shared vision of empowerment and business opportunities for its members.

WOAMTEC National Training & Development Director Jennifer Lee
You would have to be very unconnected to not know that our local NBA team, the Orlando Magic is going to the National Finals!!! First time since 1995…WooHoo!
Normally, I do not watch basketball, but I love a good “underdog” story. So I began to stay up too late to watch the series the past few weeks; cheering the team on from my sofa, yelling at the bad calls from those %*!* referees, I even caught myself saying….”are they blind?”… I quickly learned the lingo…”in the paint”, “shooting from downtown”…I even think I understand the 3 second rule…watch out…I think I like this game!
What I really noticed though, was that The Orlando Magic are a real team…it isn’t just about Dwight Howard (Superman)…they all play a key role, they all can shoot from downtown and make those 3 points, they all pass the ball to one another…it’s a team effort!! They are Magic in motion…
What I really love about our WOAMTEC family is that we too, are a great team…sharing ideas, passing on leads, looking for opportunities to “pass the ball” to another member…we are working together to grow our businesses.
WOAMTEC has over 400 members now, we are growing because many women recognize the need to be part of a team that truly works as a team!
I’m so glad to be your coach…let’s bring on some new players this week to join us! Lets find the Magic in us! Remember, the only goal that matters in life, is the one you help others achieve. Come join us for lunch this week at WOAMTEC the Premier Business lunch for women and see what the Magic is all about!
Have a great week,
Jennifer Lee
