Simply Well article for Confident Women
As business women, we well know how the many demands of our daily lives can wreak havoc with our body. We talk about being “stressed out,” yet all too often fail to make the connection between the chaos in our mind and how it affects us-physically, emotionally and mentally.
Imagine how it would feel to be able to release the stored up stress and tension within your body to achieve a greater sense of well-being and true healing. Thousands of patients (including many WOAMTEC members), of Simply Well, a Winter Park-based practice started 10 years ago by Dr. Dominick D’Anna, have experienced extraordinary results in their lives.
D’Anna was a student of chiropractic when he learned about a new treatment modality known as Network Care, sometimes called Network Spinal Analysis, a unique approach to chiropractic care that connects one’s own body with its natural ability to heal and recover.
How network care works
“Different portions of the spine store stress, which in layman’s terms blocks the flow of information from your brain throughout the body, causing pain and dis-ease,” Dr. D’Anna says. “I use a system of gentle contacts to the body and spine which refines the body’s ability to shift into a state of greater ease, peace, connection with itself and true healing.”
Dr. D’Anna notes that when your brain senses danger, it sends out an alert to the body and a fight-or-flight stress response occurs. Mechanisms of survival are activated by the brain stem to prepare you to face the situation or run away. It occurs any time your brain cries out “danger!”
If during these stressful events, we feel fear, anger, resentment or fear, a message is sent to the brain stem to maintain the stress response, and thus, keep us safe.
“Over time, this develops into what is called defense posture, which is when your head and shoulders come forward and you begin to hunch over, sometimes so slightly you don’t even notice it,” he says. “When the body and brain are locked in this defense posture, we react as if the stress that caused it is still occurring, even though it may be decades in our past. In this state, true health and healing are impossible, and our quality of life and degree of wellness continues to diminish over time.”
According to Dr. D’Anna, this stress response and the resulting defense posture are the cause of 95 percent of all disease and are directly what he addresses through Network Care.
“Network Care can help you move from stress response and defense posture to a state of safety and growth-I’ve seen it happen with hundreds of my patients,” he advises. “My patients see an increased ability to make healthier choices, enjoy life more, and realize overall improvements in the quality of their lives.”
Here’s what just a few patients have said about their course of treatment with Dr. D’Anna:
