Orlando Confident Woman Conference a Success!
(WOAMTEC), a networking organization geared towards women, hosted 10 young women from the PACE Center for Girls and Family Services of Metro Orlando, at its conference June 17 at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando.
“These girls, including some who have ‘aged-out’ of the foster care system, loved the conference,” says Kimberly Baer, Special Projects Coordinator at PACE. “We had lunch with a woman who has a culinary business and she talked to the girls about pursuing their dreams and doing what they love, which is what they need to hear.”
“One of the goals of WOAMTEC’s Courage to Dream Foundation is to empower children and young adults who have been abused, neglected or abandoned,” says founder and president of WOAMTEC Kathleen Hawkins. “This particular conference, which featured Angela Courte, host of the television show ‘Power of Praise,’ and Jeremi Richardson from the Christian group Avalon, focused on the power of faith and believing in oneself.”
More than 225 WOAMTEC members and other businesswomen attended the conference, which also featured a 35 vendor “mall” and breakout sessions after the luncheon ended.
“WOAMTEC was created in 2007 to provide a supportive environment for women who are committed to faith, family and career,” notes Hawkins. “Our mission is to empower women and children, build businesses, and strengthen communities everywhere.”
WOAMTEC is headquartered in Longwood, Florida with chapters in Florida, Georgia, and several other states. It holds three to four conferences annually, and is hosting its first Atlanta conference on June 22. For more information, log onto www.woamtec.com or call 407.767.5417.
