Tampa, FL - Chapter Meeting
Chapter Director - Nena West
The Capital Grille
2223 North West Shore Boulevard
Tampa, FL 33607
“I want to empower women,” West said on why WOAMTEC is her networking organization of choice. Nena’s successful, thirty-year career in the insurance industry spans many insurance lines and positions. She currently specializes in professional liability insurance. “I have found a niche in professional liability that I truly love,” she said. Nena, now an agent, is the current President of the Tampa Association of Insurance Professionals. She holds numerous professional designations in the insurance industry including Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW), Professional in Insurance Account Management (PIAM) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR).On empowering women, Nena shared her personal perspective based on professional experience, “Women have taken over the insurance industry, but still, there are not a lot of women in power in the larger companies. Women need a networking family to belong to; one they can use to better themselves—while getting the best products and services at the best prices.” Nena plans to encourage women to network outside of their professions.
As a wife, mother and grandmother she appreciates WOAMTEC’s values of faith and family before career. Nena is the founder of T.I.K.E (Toddler Information Kept for Emergencies) a program that she founded in Florida and her philanthropic reach extends to various other charitable organizations including her local humane society, Junior Women’s League and the Good Samaritan Mission.
Successful networking led Nena to her current role as Tampa’s first WOAMTEC chapter director. She met WOAMTEC President and Founder, Kathleen Hawkins at a Heart Gallery Conference. The Heart Gallery is WOAMTEC’s charity of choice. There, the two exchanged business cards following Hawkins conference presentation. Nena plans to build a WOAMTEC chapter based on her and Hawkins shared vision of empowerment and business opportunities for its members.
